Learn Spanish with me on Italki or Preply!

Hi! I’m Miguel and I’ve been teaching Spanish online for years. I’ve used apps, SRS, Pimsleur, books, online lessons, Language Learning with Netflix, and more, so I can share my experiences with you. I’m fluent in English, I have passed the HSK 5 exam in Chinese, and I work every day on improving both. Thinking of getting a tutor/coach for your language learning journey? Then, why should you get language learning advice from someone who's not an active language learner, when you can get it from someone who actually walks the walk?

On my YouTube channel, Spanish Input, I publish videos on different subjects, from history to phonetics, with perfect Spanish captions and English translations so you can learn Spanish and learn something new at the same time. I've also developed a keyboard layout for Spanish learners, and I'm currently creating a Spanish course from zero, which is based on my list of the 5,000 most common words in Spanish, which I compiled from Netflix subtitles.

You can book lessons with me on either Italki or Preply. My schedule is slightly different on both platforms in order to avoid scheduling conflicts. Both platforms are good. Here's a quick comparison:

Italki:
  • Allows you to freely book individual lessons with no need to pay a subscription or set up weekly lessons.
  • Allows you to select Zoom as the communication method, and this means you can have a lesson with a friend or your significant other at the same time.
  • If the lesson is more than 24 hours away, you can either cancel or reschedule it, but only with tutor approval. If it's less than 24 hours away, it can't be cancelled or rescheduled.
Preply:
  • Forces you to be more regular by focusing on recurring weekly lessons and subscriptions, with (afaik) no choice to book individual lessons after the initial trial lesson.
  • Allows you to reschedule or cancel lessons up to 4 hours before lesson time without needing approval from your tutor.
  • If the lesson is less than 4 hours away, you only have the option to cancel, but you still have to pay for it.
